In the project of an LNG carrier constructed by a large shipbuilding enterprise, a notable technical problem emerged during the commissioning phase – the ship's control panel installed next to the main engine exhibited significant vibration during operation. Weighing approximately 40 KG and measuring 46 cm × 121 cm × 105 cm, this control panel is a crucial component of the ship's overall control system. As the equipment is adjacent to the main engine area and exposed to a persistent mechanical vibration environment for a long time, the electronic components inside the panel have gradually shown signs of loosening, and individual signal interfaces have experienced fluctuations. Although no system shutdown has been caused yet, the technical team recognized that failure to take timely measures might lead to greater hidden dangers during future ocean voyages.
After a systematic analysis, the engineering personnel confirmed that vibration transmission was the root cause of the problem.
